Smashbox L.A Cover Shot Eyeshadow Palette Review

Smashbox is a brand that I've known of for years but never really invested much time into, other than their cult product - the photo finish primer. They've recently launched a Los Angeles inspired collection and it's gorgeous and I was lucky enough to receive some of the products for my birthday from a friend - thank you!

The L.A Cover Shot palette retails for £39.50 and contains 9 matte and 7 shimmer eyeshadows ranging from fun and bright to smokey which I love. You can purchase it from Boots here in the UK. The palette also contains a full-size black gel liner pencil which worked really well although I do wish it was a little bit more intense. The layout of the palette is one more tiny thing that really doesn't matter too much - but I would prefer it if all the base/highlighting shades were all on the top of the palette, I'm not too into the one up, one down appearance but that's just me being super picky. I do absolutely love how the packaging has that cool effect where if you move it in the light, it changes colour from blue to a purple!

Onto the shadows - my first reaction to the palette was the fact that I love that it has bright, colourful matte shades in it to play with - I get really frustrated when palettes have a few pops of colour as shimmers and the only matte shades are completely neutral tones as I find this gives fewer options for eyeshadow looks. The shadows themselves are really nice and pigmented, the purple/pink shade in the middle of the brights took some time to blend out but had really good colour pay off and longevity to it so it's a win from me - and the palette is cruelty-free which is always a win!

The collection also came out with two cream face sticks - a blush in the shade 'Beverly Hills Blush' and a highlighting stick in the shade 'LA Lights' which are both becoming some of my staple everyday face products for a quick glow! They retail for £26 and you can purchase them from Boots here.

Watch the video below to see me playing with the palette and some more thoughts on it - will you be purchasing this palette?

Till Next Time,

Shiv xoxo
