Revolution Cannabis Sativa Makeup Collection - An Overview Review

Cannabis Sativa/CBD/Cannabinol are the new buzzword of the beauty scene over the past few months or so and every brand seems to be releasing more with it 'infused' into their beauty products and to be completely honest - I'm living for it

The beauty benefits that come from the cannabis plant/hemp seed/cannabis sativa seed etc all help with inflammation, soreness and generally calming down the skin which are all fabulous; how they benefit in makeup products, I'm not entirely sure but I do still like the concept. I recently received some products from the team at Revolution from their cannabis sativa collection - which you can have a browse through here as there's still a lot more products I haven't tested out as of yet. I received the Forever Flawless Chilled with Cannabis Sativa eyeshadow palette (£10 here), the Good Vibes Lip Balm in the shade 'Euphoria' (£5 here), the Cuticle Oil (£5 here), the High Brow Gel in the shade Ash Brown (£5 here) and lastly, the 'Calming Fixing Spray with Cannabis Sativa' (£7 here).

Starting off with in my humble opinion, always the most important part of a makeup collection - the eyeshadow palette which in this case is the 'Forever Flawless Chilled with Cannabis Sativa palette'. This is also part of their collection of Forever Flawless palettes which I have also really enjoyed, you can read my review on the ice palette here and the fire palette here too. The palette comes with 18 eyeshadow shades, ranging from mattes to shimmers and 3 beautiful pressed glitters which are all housed in the forever flawless palette style tin, which I do really like as you can keep it clean in your makeup kit. The outside has a super funky design with neon cannabis plant cartoons which I think is a really stand out design; I do wish the inside of the palette kind of represented the outside a little more - maybe a pop of neon orange and green somewhere? Although this may just be my crazy makeup brain wanting to chuck in all of the colours and doing the theme they have done, with the greens and browns, makes this palette more 'wearable' for the everyday makeup user so I can see their thought process with the shade choices.

When I tend to try out an eyeshadow palette for the first time, I always start off by using the shades that draw me in most and this time round the shades 'Goddess', 'Bud' and 'Leaf' caught my attention and I just had to make sure I used those shades in my look. Pressed glitters always seem to give me a little bit of trouble and they're not a formula that I jump up in my chair with excitement to use, as they transfer and there's just fall out everywhere - even as someone who does their eyes first, this can be a little bit of a pain. I think I'd much rather put glitter glue down and apply loose glitter - when doing my look as you can see in my video tutorial here, I should've applied a darker base underneath or even one of the other shades in the palette and I definitely feel that they'll be better suited as eyeshadow toppers which, is something to bear in mind when using this palette. The matte shades to no surprise, performed beautifully and blended with ease into each other so taking notes about the pressed glitters, this palette is a definite win! Pick it up from Revolution's site here.

The High Brow Gel in the shade 'Ash Brown' was way too light for my brow hairs so I didn't really get to try it out however I do believe it's a similar, if not the same formula as the Pro Volume & Sculpt brow gel which I just use in the clear shade. My cuticles have been super dry lately and especially in-between nail appointments so the Cuticle Oil was a nice little add on for me to try, which felt super nourishing and soaked in quickly so I wasn't left feeling like I have greasy fingers. The Calming Fixing Spray smelt really refreshing and had a nice fine mist so this is something I'll be adding to my daily makeup routine. Finally, we have the Good Vibes Lip Balm in the shade 'Euphoria' which was a nice surprise for me as I absolutely love it, the colour pay off for a lip balm is amazing and almost gives a plump effect - totally going in my handbag!

Overall and apologies if I sound like a broken record - I love this collection and will definitely be reaching for the palette, fixing spray and the lip balm on a regular basis. Below is the look I created using these products - incredibly dramatic and I love it.

You can watch a live application of the products in my YouTube video here:

Will you be picking up anything from this collection and if so what do you have your eyes on?

Thanks so much for reading and until next time,
Much Love, Shiv xoxo
