A Trip Away In The West Country

I think it's so important to have an escape from time to time, for me; that's usually once a year and I travel to Porlock in Somerset to get this escape. As much as I shamelessly love the hustle and bustle of London and working till 1am on my content, there's something just so special about the little Porlock village and the family camping trip we've done for years. This year was slightly different though as I was lucky enough to be able to bring my boyfriend along with me which made it all that more special.

We spent a week at the campsite we've gone to for years; Poolbridge Campsite, which is family run and absolutely beautiful! It's in a valley, basically in the middle of nowhere so if you're looking for a social media detox this is absolutely perfect as there's no signal down in the camp! They charge £7-8 a night for adults which is amazing and there's hot showers, drinking water and toilets provided with plug sockets if you want to give yourself a blow dry on your camping trip away

The photo below is at the top of the hill before you go back down into the valley to get into the campsite and the only place you really get any signal but wow - look at that view! I really don't think my digital camera photo does it justice but it is truly beautiful and so calming with all the fresh air around you.

The campsite has a beautiful stream running through it, which is so much fun to go for a little walk through in your wellies and there's even a plunge pool if you walk far enough, I love the sound of the stream when I'm drifting off to sleep in my tent, it's just so relaxing.

If you do head on over to Somerset later this year for a chillier break - or even next year when the weather begins to get warmer again, I'd highly recommend checking out Porlock Weir, you can go crabbing if you're into that kind of activity, it's a gorgeous stoney beach and there's a cute little glass shop which is really nice to pop into after you've had a drink at the Bottom Ship pub which is just a few buildings down. I felt like wearing my rainbow jumper from Primark this day to inject some brightness into my day and because I felt well and truly happy!

You can have a little peak of what we got up to here:

Have an escape!

Till Next Time,
